U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that the Hamas organization is going to hand over its weapons amid the Israel-Gaza war.
Following Hamas’s attack on Israel in October 2023, Israel began its offensive on Gaza. In this war, which has been going on for about three years, more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed so far.
Various groups in countries around the world have been continuously urging that this war be brought to an end. U.S. President Trump has also been making intense efforts to end the war.
Meanwhile, even after the peace agreement was signed between Israel and Hamas, more than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed so far in Israeli attacks in Gaza alone.
In this situation, Trump has announced that the Gaza Peace Board will take up an agreement for Hamas members to surrender their weapons. He also said that Hamas surrendering its weapons would be a significant step toward the formation of a new Palestinian government in Gaza.
Trump has said that after the Hamas organization hands over its weapons to the national Gaza administrative committee, Israeli forces will withdraw from Gaza, and an international force and the police of the new Palestine will take responsibility for the safety of the people of Gaza.
However, no information has yet been released from the Israeli side regarding a ceasefire in Gaza.
